Why are fly rods made this way?
« on: September 01, 2007, 11:36:07 AM »

I was wondering the other day why it is that fly rods seem to always be 3,4 or even 5 pieces whether they are 6 feet or 10 feet in length.   Why so many sections?  Why all multi-piece blanks?   ???

Alot of fly fishers have small cars? ;D I think travel is a big issue and with the new ferrule design it really doesn’t affect the rods action as much anymore to be a multi piece. I still think the two piece rods cast and feel better but I buy three and four piece mostly because they are more convenient to store.
