Scott A2 vs. Winston Vapor
« on: January 10, 2008, 09:59:06 PM »
Looking at 10' , 7wt rods for smallmouth nymphs and streamers and am beginning to settle on the Scott A2.
Got to check out one the other day and am wondering how that rod would compare with the Vapor.
I am leaning more toward the A2 because it is still made here in the States vs the Far East.
Any other suggestions on rods in that same price range would be appreciated.

Go with the Scott in my opinion. Better rod, made here and good customer service.

I have a 10 ft. TFO Jim Teeny series rod ,I like it real well and I think it is about a 250.00 rod if I remember right.
I just don't care!

Thanks for the responses. I hope to pick up the rod in time for warm weather. Still planning on the Scott.

+1 for the Scott...

Grumpy must not have seen this, Orvis, Winston, TFO, Cortland are the rods carried at CT.

Be sure and let us know what you decide on.  There's nothing better than trying a rod out before you chunk out the money.

The Cabelas FT is a nice rod in that price range. Its fast enough to handle shooting heads. I have a few custom Dan Craft's blanks that make sweet rods. My favorite 7wt is the Xi2. If you build it yourself you can afford it.

What about if you build it for me? I still got my eye on that 9wt blank you been holding ;D
