Elk 2-8-08
« on: February 08, 2008, 09:17:49 PM »
Decided to try Farris Creek Bridge Access Point this afternoon.  Arrived about 1 pm and had the river all to myself all afternoon.   The river still showed the impact of the earlier week storms that went through the area.  Water quality was semi-transparent and the depth was higher than I remembered in the Fall.  Fished for three hours, had two good bites but only landed one 10" Rainbow.  The fish were feeding on something because I saw two trout jump out of the water chasing it.  There was as small bug hatch which was not midge but I could not identify it.  A beautiful, pleasant, relaxing afternoon despite my lack of production.

roberts618, I fished the Elk today as well.  I fished below the TF dam and I'm glad to see it wasn't just me having a slow day.  I managed to catch two rainbows (one near the rip rap below the dam and the other about 20 yards from the bridge).  The first on a wooly bugger and the second on a #18 BH Pheasant Tail.  The water wasn't much better near the dam.  Fished for 2 hours.
