There are many quality point and shoots out there that put out great stuff, especially if you don't enlarge over 8 x 10. The hybrids are better than the pure pocket size point and shoots - their glass is better. Arguably the sensors in a point and shoot are not that much different than what is in a DSLR, the data is the same, in camera software is usually pretty good, the main difference is glass, flash, memory, speed and of course the bells and whistles that a pro would need. I haven't been there in a while, but he's a working pro, but often carries a good point and shoot around.
