2/24/08 Got to fish with iflyfortrout today.  Not many fish but my stomach will hurt for the next month from laughing so hard.  One of my all-time favorite days on the water.  That is what fly fishing is about being with good friends and the fish are just bonus.   :D
Did anyone else get out in this cold weather  :o to fish?

I did and got zeroed. BD had one big Musky follow to the boat and I might have missed one but I'm not 100% it wasn't bottom. We also saw a GIANT Muskie just under our boat. Don't know if we floated over it or if it had followed a cast to the boat.

It didn’t beat sitting at home.

That's funny, cause I've been at home all day with a 7yr old and a 2 1/2 yr old and I'm about ready to scream! Slinging line all day with no hook ups looks promising from where I sit.

Of course, it's days like yesterday that help with the sanity factor: good friends, good float, good fish, and good food afterwards. Hard to beat ;)

Yes indeed.

When I'm not working, and have a chance to actually fish, catching fish is usually well down on the requirements page when it comes to having a great trip. Great report!

I got to the Caney this afternoon and landed my first fish ever on the Caney, a 12" brown:

I was out all day as well.  Did the best in the early morning though.  Streamers were the ticket for the better part of the day.  Cloud cover seemed to have the fish off the nymphs, at least on the dead drift.  I did pick up a few fish while swinging some larger nymphs, but for the most part it was streamer action...

Thank goodness i was able to see some of the bigger fish going after it, & jerk it away from them, that would've been tough wrestling those things :-[
