American made fly rods
«

So I am interested in a new 4 wt rod (4 piece) and started looking around for American made rods. I guess it is just like most other things these days...there are not many American made ones out there. Sage has the Launch series and Scott has the A2 series that could be in my price range. Any opinions on either one of these rods??
Thanks

Those A2's are great rods for the price. I tried to get two for client use but was told that scott is behind in production and pro-discount orders aren't top priority at the moment. It is a great rod with a medium fast action and plenty of backbone to horse a big fish in or throw a double nymph rig with a bobber and split shot.
I ended up buying a sage fli combo and i think the scott is a MUCH better rod. The sage can throw some line but doesn't offer the feel or mendin ability of the A2. If you can find one in stock somewhere i'd highly recommend the A2.

I have 3 Scotts and love them. Cabela's has been selling the A2's in their "Bargain Cave" or whatever they call it in their stores. A friend of mine found 2 A2's at 60% off at Cabela's in St. Louis.

Since it's for you, why not a nice 4pc, 4wt, bamboo?? I know a lot of makers that would be thrilled to make you one.

Sage SLT. I don't why they quit makin' the SLT, I love mine and I think you can get a new one on ebay for a resonable price. G. Loomis has the best warranty, I broke a Loomis and had a new rod in 2days for 50$. My buddy broke a Scott out snaggin' Tutonkas
and it took like 3 mos. to get it back. just my .02$
