Drag chain set up's
« on: July 28, 2008, 10:27:03 PM »
I'd like to see how anyone that uses them has them rigged, drawing, photos.

Suggestions as to size and length of chain.

I just use a 21' 1/2" rope with a float and a snap on one end and a 2 to 3' log chain on the other. With a jet you don't have to pull the chain up when you run from place to place.

Glenn, could I see yours as well? I currently only run one off the front in one generation and it has been successful but am open to changes and better performance.

Right now my rig is 20' of rope with 3' of log chain. Heavy use D ring to connect it to the boat and locking D ring to connect the rope to the chain.

Like Mike said, with a Jet, you can leave it down when you run and the rope and chain will lay under the boat.

kingfish, why don't you run it off the bow and float backwards? Much safer. This is the way I float and a couple of people here can attest that even if it hangs, you just get a jolt as the boats stops after which you can get to the rope and get it released and back floating again.

Guys on most boat configurations attaching and dragging anything to the transom is a recipe for an accident. DON”T DO IT!!!
