An Apology
« on: November 14, 2008, 11:49:17 AM »
To whomever the gentleman was that waded up behind me as I was concentrating on 1) My fishing; and 2) Evaluating a new rod and asked.... "You seem to be really pulling them in!  What does it take to catch fish on this stream?"  I must apologize if my short, and probably curt response was not what you expected.

OH! My reply???

Dang - I would expect that from a bait fiesherman but DUDE! (Like I've never been so focused I was a jerk to the entire world - now I'm flasing back to all the times I have been a jerk -this may take a while)

The guy was probably after which fly I was using... and I'm normally very free with that info, and sometimes hand out an example or two... but for some reason this was different.  The poor fellow will probably think twice before ever asking again.

Yesterday was an OK day... looks like they stocked for Vetern's Day... a bunch of dinky 'bows and browns.  I did see one very nice sized fish in the riffle above the bend... but the fish seemed tobe having problems.

Stream smells like the lake is turning over... so be prepared.

Anthony, while you're flashing back, don't forget to include the big back-hander you just served up to bait fishermen everywhere........classic.   ;D

Amen Hilljack!
Besides, I would guess that 98% of "us" (from us and them) started out as bait casters.

Haaaaarump!!!!   Let's not go too far here now!!!  Even as a little tyke my dad always expected me to use some kind of an artificial.  Dad guided in the 30's on his brother and his 40 ft double cabin cruiser that they built on the Canal Zone.  So we got in some interesting salt water work before I ever knew what a trout was.

czkid is an ornery old  fart, as am I!  We have shared the Elk River togather many time, though he doesn't know it, yet!!  I like Wooly Bugers and he thinks they are "Tacky".  That's ok with me, he likes midges and I would sure like to learn about how to fish them from him.  He loves to flyfish and so do I, that's what counts!
