Hey Scott I'm just starting to play around with them again. Mine are bought and they are made from 6/0 uni thread and mono. I love the way they cast, float, no memory, and it makes re rigging easier. I also like being able to drop 7X off the tippet ring on one section of river or change it to 5X on another without out sacrificing a leader or tying a bunch of knots. Where it shines to me is 1. casting. 2. dropping thin tippet off the ring. I can get much deeper if I use 8' of 6X tied to the tippet ring and I still  only have a 12 or 13 ft leader that will cast great. The extra length and smaller dia tippet allows the fly to sink faster. I hope that all that made sense. Bottom line is just buy a good one and see if you like it.

Well stated on the benefits Mike. They are the bomb. Especially with the rings.

I also make furled leaders, taught by Warren 2 1/2 years ago.  I had started with one from Kathy Scott about 5 years ago.  Uni tying thread makes about the best dry fly leader and 4# Berkley "Transition Gold" Fluorocarbon works great for streamers.
If you can't get in touch with Warren give me a shout.

Jack if you can keep up with the orders feel free to show some pics and try to sell them here. I don't mind one bit and most likely will buy a few myself.

Mike has very kindly posted my photo's and info on the Buy - Sell forum.  I've changed my profile to include my mailing address.

There are several advantages to furled leaders, not the least of which is that they are very long lasting.  Because you can actually cast a furled leader you can use longer tippets.  And, as Mike pointed out you only have to change tippets for different conditions not the leader.  Add a fluorocarbon tippet to a thread leader with an indicator and do some numphing.
