Got out for a little while on Priest Sun.
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:59:36 AM »
Caught some White Bass and a few Hybrids way up in the Stones along with a few Crappie. The water is warming and the White Bass run isn't too far away. Talked to and watched several people who were just wearing out the Crappie on minnows and jigs. Spring knocked on the door this weekend for sure!

I agree with Gordie.  CRAPPIE!!

I really want to get into them this year.  I'm more interested in finding the slabs this spring than the trouts.
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

you want to talk about wierd I m thinking about really hitting Guntersville lake this year hard for carp. I ve been doing a little reading and aparently there is a nice number of bigger carp to be chased.
The more I fish the more I realize it isn t about the fishing.  The older I get the more I realize it is about the moments God has hand crafted just for me.

Find a good flat and Carp are huge fun on a fly! Look for a flat with lots of pot marks (holes) and there should be Carp close by. Get some really good polarized glasses you’ll need em. The Carp tail in the mud and that mud settles on their backs making them almost impossible to see at times. I’ve found that when fishing to tailing Carp that you have to be able to see where his head is. The fly must be put right in the Carps face for it to ever be seen so accurate casting is a must. You might need a new Sage Xi2 6wt rod for that! ;D

Yeah I been up in there fishing alot this past weekend.Been having alot of luck on spider rigging for the crappie.Me and the guy I fish with boated a 15 1/4 inch crappie Sat.Was our first TARP award. My only gripe is some of the rude people on the lake with no respect for other fisherman. The river maybe a total of 75 yards wide there is about 5-6 boats setting in there trying to stay on a spot to catch crappie and you have some low life rude person come blasting by all the boats in there and having to pick through the boats to get through. They are just lucky I didnt have any egg sinkers with me cause it I had they would got knocked on.
