Boat looking, Again
« on: February 28, 2009, 10:17:49 PM »

Never put a price on anything you don't want to part with ;D Put a price on the boat minus the motor and she is sold.

Feel naked :D, starting a search for the next and maybe the last boat for a while :o. I like Mikes Supreme, fished out of a J&S over on the White for a few days, was impressed. Blazer Boats was mentioned to me today http://www.blazerjetboats.com/ by a couple of of gentlemen named Leo and Grumpy.

I have remote steer, like it but wonder what the cost to revert back to tiller would be if I have to go that way?

I would think the remote steering would be the way to go on any of them. I think it would allow for the back deck to be much larger, which would fix the only fault on a lot of boats.

Remote steer would be nice and agreed on the back deck being larger. I had mine made larger but wouldn't mind it being even larger.

The Blazer looks nice, would prefer to see one in person before making a determination.

I'll take a tiller over any other form of steering out there. Don't need an electrical box and its less crap in my way and less to go wrong. There is no down side to a tiller that I know of. Now I could make my jet quit sucking up leaves and mud and gravel I'd be happy. Shoulda got a prop....

Nah, no prop.  ;) We just need to invent a push grate for the intake and patent it.  ;D

Any pictures? I might have to visit you and discuss how he has it configured.

Just out of curiosity, David, what was wrong with the Gheenoe?  If I had a 25 hp jet instead of a prop drive on mine, I couldn't ever imagine wanting anything else for river fishing.

Looking at your pictures, the only thing that looks like you lacked was a front casting deck.

Gheenoe makes a fine boat, I've had three.

Even though it is the widest transom model, 41.5" just is not enough for a 196lb motor. I was the Guinea pig, couldn't find this setup to talk to owner and Gheens didn't know of anyone.

It never hit nothing, ran over ever shoal I ever tried to cross, floated over skinny water. "But" with the investment I had in it, figured I could get skinner/faster running rig and more room for the same money.

With 2 people, gear/man snacks for all day, don't have lots of room left.

The boat has a flat casting deck in the front, for fishing generation I don't want a small pointed high deck, although I was going to weld up an aluminum platform to install for chasing Carp.

My ole Classic with a 15hp Honda prop will run all day upstream against generation at 18.9 mph, this rig running upstream was 13mph tops.

I've got a video of a 15 x 46 Jon with my motor running 27mph, do I need to run 27, heck no but want to be able to get on plane quick.

3 adults in this boat, we tried it, ended up trailering to the dam and floating to Happy.
