I had business in Lynchburg, dropped by the Elk on the way home. will have to say the water clarity was the best I've seen in years.
Lots of people out, didn't see any catching going on.

Hit the Elk for an hour or so at noon on the 3rd. Myself along with 3 other fellows that were fishing the "right stuff" were totally skunked... nada, zip, as in zero bumps not to mention catches.

Fishing the Elk

What is wrong with the Elk? The trend seems to be that the fishing is not improving at all this Spring. I was there about a month ago and the fishing was poor then even though it had been recently stocked. It seems strange that all the reports we get are very negative on the Elk. What is wrong with the Elk?

The Elk fished great for me this morning.
I thought that the water looked good except it was a little murky.
They tore up my already frazzled olive wooly bugger.
All but one fish was smaller than I usually see on the Elk. The biggest one was a chunky rainbow a little under 12" but.....still a great morning to be on the river.
