Custom built anchor
« on: April 02, 2009, 10:44:57 AM »
If you had access to one of the top TIG welders in the world (I do, he is my tool buddy at work)

have plenty of flat and angle aluminum, I do ;)

What would your anchor look like?

My bud offered to help me make one last night, I'm going to get him started making wine. (all I ever make anymore is for him) I'm into Ale, when and what little I drink. Bout time for another batch of Wheat.

A simple piece of rail road iron makes one heck of an anchor. That stuff is HEAVY!

I like the river anchor style. You could use that as a template and formulate your own. Are you going to dip it in plastic once done or maybe anodize it?

As far as the Wheat, I would love to taste test.  ;D

I called Gander Mnt, for a price of $40 for a bag of lead, I think unless I can dig up some rare earth metal in the yard will just buy a anchor or use a Omron PLC controller. That is what my trade school teacher called them, he is an Allen-Bradley guru.

We've got a bunch of 90 70's here you use. Me, I like GE but those AB guys sure do swear at em...

Couldn't you just use an old 3270 terminal? Nothing like green text on a black screen, plus, in the river it might attract fish.  ;)

the assembly guys have GE, in machining, we have Omron, what you get use to. some guys hated the thought of learning Omron when all they knew was AB, not they love Omron.

If I brew this coming week, which is not likely, the boat needs river water under it bad. It has only been in the lake.

It will be 5 weeks at the earliest, when it's like Gallo wine, DONE, we need to fish and enjoy a fine brew at the end of the trip.

You get the first one I give away ;)

Considering this thread, you could call this batch Anchors Aweigh Ale.

(I've had  a brew or two of his. good stuff.)
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."
