I have one that fits on the trolling motor.

Thinking of either taking it and making a holder to fit on the rail of the boat, hold it with a Destack-o clamp.

Or get a new one and install on transom.

Whats the possiblity of damage to the transducer if installed on the transom and being used on the river the big percentage of the time ?

Pretty high, but that's where I always put mine. It's the only place to get good readings while underway unless you shoot through the hull and that means no Temp readings...
