April Fly of the Month!!
« on: May 10, 2009, 03:59:15 PM »
Well, I know I am late and I apologize. It has been crazy since I got back but here it is.

The Basic Peabody
Hook: Tiemco 200R
Thread: UTC 70 - Olive
Body: Four to Six strands of peacock herl
Rib: Fine copper wire (counter-wrapped over the herl)
Hackle: Olive Hungarian Patridge

Start the thread on the hook and wrap back to the hook point.

Tie in the herl and the wire and progress the thread forward towards the eye:

Tie in the hackle (tip on hook) Wrap the herl up and tie off at the hackle then counter-wrap the fine wire over the herl and tie off:

Wrap hackle (sparsely) and tie off. Whip finish head and done. (head could be neater, but I don't think the fish mind)

Still experimenting with lighting and flash and I am working on a light box so photos should be better next time.

Enjoy!!

Anyone up for a swap while we are waiting for the water to get back to "normal"?

Thanks Steve!
