Elk Jan 1
« on: January 01, 2007, 06:03:14 PM »
Weather was miserable and the fishing wasn't much better. We caught fish on the Egg, Tellico, 24 thread body midge, and a G Gnat. The fish were sporadic at best and not very active. Later in the day I walked to the discharge and found a nice pod of fish that were more then willing to eat a tiny midge on 7X but the steep rock bank behind me kept taking my flies till I couldn't take it any more and let em have that god forsaken place.

We took the supreme in hopes of running to some less pounded water but the lower river was muddy and boat never left the trailer…

I may just do that sometime kriscad. I really wasn't dogging the river, I was dogging that steep banked discharge area where a backcast is impossible. Fish rising everywhere 30' away, about every second cast I caught a fish and every third cast I lost a fly.

I've had some great days on the elk but I've just not explored it like it needs to be explored. I think the Supreme would do just fine in the river if I can stay outa the grass.

BTW welcome to the board.

it's not Slough Creek or the Big Horn :) Just have to get away from the easy to get to spots, getting harder to do all the time.

Thanks - great to see another good message board supporting TN Fly Fishing.

Anytime you want to come down let me know and I will take you out in the gheenoe to fish the deep water around the bend.
