Camera Backpack
« on: June 25, 2010, 09:52:40 AM »
What camera backpack you guys use?  I'm taking Grumpy's suggestion and getting a backpack to take my camera on trips instead of the 'point and shoot'.  I have a hiking backpack and thinking about just using it for camera gear, any downside to that?

I have a small one that I use for day hikes and a large one I use for road trips. For a hike pack I just want a place for a few lenses and a flash. I always keep the camera on me. A pack capable of carrying a DSLR a flash and a few lenses is going to be more then I want to pack in to the places I like to hike. I've been considering the Simms waterproof backpack though for overnight hikes of hikes into the mtn streams. But I just don't do that very often..

Nice pack Mike.  My wife often uses the Columbia Windrunner Half Day Pack.   Come to think of it, it would be perfect for camera and maybe a lens or two and still have room for a few other things, it's H 16.75" x W 11" x D 7.5".

I use the Tamrac 7X Expedition as it holds all you want to carry, and I want it all with me when I go. ;D
I just don't care!

I had the LowePro AW200 until that 70-400 entered my life. I could carry the camera, 3 lenses, vertical grip & miscellaneous small items.
It is a sling pack which i like because i can pull it around & pull the camera out of the side loaded pocket w/o removing the pack, they sell for around $90.
I am waiting for one of the camera stores to get the 350AW to see if i can carry the 70-400 mounted in it, plus it has a tripod carrying system on it.
