Minnkota I Pilot
« on: June 25, 2010, 01:31:16 PM »
Has anybody installed this on their Powerdrive or Terrova? Its getting great reviews.

I thought it would be nice since I mainly fish by myself, it can be tricky to control the trolling motor and fish.(on rivers)

It has quite a few features but the spot lock would come in handy.

I haven't but have been reading the reviews like you. I was hoping someone on the board would be the first guinea pig.  :D

I like you guys would love see it in action. We had them come in over at the BPro before I left. It looks pretty sweet.

Also if I remeber right it has a course memory where if you go down a bank and catch fish at that distance/depth you can just hit a button and it will take you right back down the same path you were on. That leaves a lot work out of it and more fishing if you have a hot bank or location.

Team that up with a side-scan you and shoot out 75ft or so to a ledge, see the fish, cover the area until you run out of fish, then recover same course using that feature staying the same distance off and throw to those undisturbed fish without worry of boat position.

A couple of friends of mine have had the I-pilot for several months and though they love the functionality, they are having to replace units due to buttons starting to fail and other reasons.  I'm getting one, but I'm going to wait until they get the bugs worked out of them.
