 Well lets hope not but I was looking up boats and ran across this and thought what if some of the pleasure boaters had this would they go to the caney?

The lower river has more big Jets running it then you might think. As fast as that thing moves I could see where stockers getting clogged in the intake grate would pose a real problem.

If they don't quit selling off the land along the river to developers, I am not so sure that we will still have a decent fishery.  Clearing all that land along the river could be devastating to the aquatic life, plus it will give a lot more people direct access to the river that could hurt it as well.

do you have the aquatic "celery" or what ever it is on the Caney like we have on the Elk, been a few years since I was on the Caney and I only fished it a few times, think it's called Mr. Johnsons place. Don't recall seeing any, but seems it was cooler weather. This year the Elk was super loaded with the stuff, could barely get a canoe downstream across the stuff it was so thick.  Would stop a Jet up for sure.

The plant life in the Caney is thicker, richer and thriving well.  It is much thicker than it was a few years ago when the dissolved oxygen levels were so low.  it doesnt cover the entire river of course and there are places where there is none at all, but there are many places on the Caney where it is thick enough to stop up a jet I would imagine, but heck...when you have a jet that will get it on in 3" of water!!!

shoot boys, if it keeps this up, a 300 HP mercury outboard will be the ticket, run from one end to the other in 12 minutes.
