Nices Mill (Brookie)
« on: January 19, 2007, 12:34:59 AM »
Do they release anything besides 'bows in the stocking program.  I went below the dam a ways and hooked what I suspected to be a small bow and when I got it in, it was a brookie.   I wouldn't think the water stays cool enough year round for it to be a natural, would you?  Any thoughts?

I have no idea how a Brookie could have gotten in the Stones. ??? The hatchery that dumped the Trout at NM dosen't raise Brook Trout that I know of.  ???

However,,,They do buy some eggs from out west so it is possible that a few Brook eggs get mixed in somehow I guess.

Definitely, definitely no way it was natural.  I also don't see how a brook trout could have gotten mixed in with the hatchery rainbows they use for stocking.

Maybe somebody brought a brookie back from East TN and threw it in at Nices Mill for a joke?
