Inspiration

Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

Many years ago, in what seems like a lifetime ago now, I work as an photographic assistant to Mark Tucker.  This was back in the day of REAL album covers, not cds.  We shot many of the top names in the country music biz down on 2nd ave in what was Mulligans Pub.  Mark has moved into other areas since those days.  I thought you might enjoy his work for some Inspiration!  ENJOY

Very nice indeed Glen. Did you not catch the camera bug?

Mike, I couldn't begin to count the number of shutter clicks and rolls of b&w film I have processed and printed.  When I was in HS I shot, process and printed nearly all the candid photos for our annual.  My best freind back in those days was a fellow named Matt Barnes.  His family owned a graffic arts and photography business which I was around and help out with over the years.  Matt went on to study photography in CA and has a studio out there today.  My interest in photography then led to a job with Chromatics on Fogg St in Nashville where I worked with an Ilford color camera and assisted with E-6 processing.  A lot of the work we did in those days was for local pros since transpariences (silde film) was the medium of the day.  Mike Borum owned the business and pro himself had a studio which ajoined the lab.  I still have memories of meeting Annie Leibovitz during a photo shoot while she rented Mike's studio.
Did I ever have the photo bug ;)

Yeah Annie does some great work, saw a great documentary with her on PBS a while back....she was on a photo shoot with the queen of England.

Glenn, I have spent more money at Chromatics in my days than I have in fly fishing.  Nothing like a well exposed slide on a Cibachrome print, those were the days.  Like you I also spent a lot of time shooting and processing b&w film, was bit by the bug in high school with a great photo teacher.

I also spent my time in the good ole days with a Kodak 110 instamatic and drop the film off at the kodak one stop, I am thrilled now to have a nice digital camera and no more developing film at the one stop, and I dont have to learn darkroom techniques .
I just don't care!

I 've still got a very nice Olympus OM1 that I learned all about aperture iso shutter speed and how expensive getting a roll of crap shots cost to get developed.

Chalk me down as a digital fan.

Same here Mike, man the learning curve is much fast and cheaper in some ways now.  I was shooting a wedding reception for a friend of mine last week and being able to see exactly how the flash and rear sync was going to act was very nice.  Although processing on the computer has it's own set of learning curves.

Jarrod I started out with an instant camera my aunt gave me for christmas one year, talk about expensive, that stuff was crazy expensive.

Just got an email from my long lost old HS photog friend Matt Barnes.  Here is a link to his website

Needless to say it looks like he made it in the biz. ;)
