Elk conditions
« on: June 15, 2011, 08:58:27 AM »
Hey ya'll- looks like i'll be making my first trip ever to the elk next weekend.  We plan to do a float trip and I'm wondering if I'll be able to take my Gheenoe.  Any water level issues to be concerned with?  I have a heavy battery and 4 stroke motor (135lbs) on the back so I really don't want to have to drag it over gravel bars, etc...

Any information on water level would be appreciated...I'll take fishing tips too if you got em.

Thanks in advance!
Dave

I floated Farris to Old Dam Ford on Mon. water is up for the Elk but you will have a couple areas where you will have to drag a bit. My canoe with a trolling motor barely makes it. It's a great float though hope you have a ball!!!! ;D

Fished with Oldmanelrod today, he ain't so old!!!  ;D   Caught some nice fish, a little slower than it has been, but a good day in all. weather held out for us until just above ODF, and then the bottom dropped out!! :o got real windy and rained buckets!! had to stop and cut trees out of the road to get back to Farris creek!! :o
Hope everyone got thier lines pulled today!!! ;D and Happy Fathers Day to all the DADS!!!

Thanks to Yoda for for a great day fishing.   :) Yoda answered my countless questions. He is a teacher at heart! And yes mother nature did give us a good fresh water wash down!

I knew things got nasty down there on Sat.  Rain, large hail and tornadoes.  Glad you got off with no damage.
