WTB - 12 lb Pyramid Anchor
« on: June 22, 2011, 06:28:47 PM »
Heard tell that maybe one of you Egyptians was making pyramids.

I could use a 12 pound anchor for a toon.

Got one?

Thanks,
Fred

Yep, still need one.
PM me the details on what you've got.
If the price is right, maybe we can meet up.

I am curious on others thoughts on why a pyramid anchor rather than some other shape?  I realize it has a small surface with a heavy weight but is there any other advantage to it's shape or say a more traditional mushroom or navy anchor?

PS  I am mostly using chains but have used mushrooms in the past.

Typically falls down on the point, lays over toward the square end & put's the BRAKES on quick, i've tried one of those spike anchors on a drifter, won't stop it until tey grab something, the Pyramid just stops it.
It may slip a little on slick rock & a lot of current, they all do, they aren't as prone to getting hung up as other's unless ya put it in a root ball :o

Gotcha, good for gravel and soft bottom, not much advantage on rock, right???

Just seems to me, on the boats (drifters) that I have seen, they are using extremely heavy pyramids (say 25 lbs), seems like any 25 lb weight would work.  However, I am on a mostly bedrock stream mostly too (Hiwassee).
