Stand up Kayak trip
« on: September 03, 2011, 10:07:26 PM »
Spent the day with Dave and his two stand up paddleboards on the Elk today. The fishing was ok and the float long. We floated from the dam to Ferris. It was good to see that stretch of river again and without much company. I've been playing around looking at different kayaks and though these are great boards I don't think they are the ones for me. I really enjoyed that you can stand up and these are very stable even with a big guy like me, they aren't easily flipped over. That said I think I like the sit in type boats better then any of the sit on tops I've been in to date. I'd really like to try out one of the Nucanoes sometime because they can also accommodate two people. Not sure if I'll ever end up buying anything but I'm enjoying testing them out.

Thanks for the ride today Dave I enjoyed the workout. :D

I'm surprised you didn't title this as "Ode to Ibuprofen!" There was a lot more flatwater at 250cfs than I realized...

but it was still a fun time. I should have gotten some photos of that bigger rainbow, that was a nice fish.

Nucanoes are good looking boats. A friend of mine's wife was complaining to me the other day about his tendency to collect canoes and assorted paddlecraft. He's only got 11 or 12 boats -- somehow I managed to resist asking her how many expensive shoes she has! It's hard making one boat do it all!

Mike,

What kayaks have you been out in? I'm a fan of SOT (Sit-On-Top's) and have a couple (5) will be 6 or 7 in a few weeks. I have two that are great for standing and fishing. If you would like to take a trip out on the river get in touch with me.

I've been on a paddle board once, and it wasn't for me, I've had several canoes not for me either, had a Bass Buggy nope not for me. I'll stick with the kayaks, and when I find the funds for a River Pro Jet Boat then I'll have to put kayak racks on it.

Yea I'd like that Jeremy thanks for the offer. The more I can test out the better. May be in touch soon.

Mike,

Anytime you want to float the Elk in a NuCanoe I have one ready to go.  They are great by the way.
