I ain't lying --- the best cast & catch I saw all year last year was Mr. Glenn Hawkins casting to a surface feeding carp from at least 40 to 50 feet and laying a bug right on his nose, hooking up, landing it, and taking 2nd or 3rd place (right?) in the Carp Tournament with it. It was a thing of beauty. It was not an easy day of fishing, the carp were few and far between, and as I recall, we were drifting by this carp at a weird angle, and it was a one-shot opportunity to hit it without spooking it. The only thing he did wrong was he lost his tournament card into the lake when the fish took a flop

but that could have been partially my fault as well...
