I have found that the markings on the redeye panfish (aka rock bass) vary a lot from day to day depending on where they are at. They are almost like chameleons - their colors will darken or lighten depending on whether they are out in the sun on a light colored bottom vs. being holed up under a root ball in the shade.
Not sure about the redeye bass. I haven't seen any of those around here. They are apparently thick in Alabama but up here we mostly have largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass in our creeks.
