If you find a fly that the buffalo on the Harpeth will eat consistently, let me know. I love to carp fish and I think I'm fairly decent at it. But buffalo are much, much tougher than common carp. I catch some on Old Hickory and a few on the Smith Fork, though even on the best waters, they will refuse the fly so many times between takes than I always have a little moment of "He actually ATE it!!!" surprise whenever one actually hits the fly. But on the Harpeth, I have fished all day with constant shots at fish who are actually nose-down and rooting in the mud, and not a single one will bite. I decided they're filter-feeding for snails or something in the mud and it was futile. If there's a fly that will reach them, I'd love to put that little equation together.
