Fly Reel
« on: January 11, 2013, 08:30:31 PM »
New guy here. Going nuts seeing all these fish. In the process of getting a set up together. What should I like for in a reel? It will go on a TFO Mini Mag 300-400 grain. I did a search for reels and couldn't find much. I don't want to break the bank, just spend what I need to get a good quality reel. Any suggestions?

The Lamson Litespeed Konic II sz 4  is hard to beat if it fits your budget at $170.

Thanks Glenn. I had looked at that reel earlier today, I've got a smaller konic on my trout set up and it's been great.

For Musky you could pretty much just put the line in your pants pocket. I've got some of the Redingtoon Rise reels and I like them for the price.

I'm afraid they will. I hit a great wild trout stream here in Georgia this morning and its just not doing it for me anymore. I did pick a a new Sage 1680 with 200 yards of gel spun for $63.
