After getting 6" of rain plus 6" of snow last week which is probably melting this week, i'd say you'll be looking at some high water still.
There are numerous places to wade under 1 unit, that river bottom is slick, i wouldn't wade out past knee deep to be on the safe side.

Travis will be along soon and he'll tell you to get out there anyway you can at night with a big mouse pattern. And he knows.

Yeah, just throw on a life jacket, and chuck mouse patterns at night in the heavy current and logjams as you float :D
SOHO is a nogo on high water wading.  I used to wade between the weir and step weir in August generation, and took a few swims.  Wouldn't consider it in cold weather at all.

I'd stick to small streams around Asheville and Brevard.  You may consider lake run trout out of headwaters of Watauga Lake... But those streams are hard to fish. And the trout aren't easy to find.

He's holdin out. Hell I bet he posted that from his crawdad that's tied off to big tree in the flooded timber on SoHo.  ;D

Not as easy as it sounds! I need to get back up that way sometime and fish with you and Jay in better conditions.

It's ripping and will be for a while. The lake level is where they want it to be in April.
