Homemade Stripping basket help needed...
« on: April 10, 2013, 02:20:36 PM »

The other day chasing hybrids in the boat left me with one big issue.. line control. It was hanging on around off up and in everything imagineable. So, I decided to try and make a basket today. I will need something like it in a couple months for a trip to the beach anyways.

What do you all suggest I put inside to keep the line from just tangling?

Nothing

I agree.  Maybe just a small amount of water to keep your line slick...

You might drill a few holes about 1/4" up the sides, to allow water to drain, especially if you got in a rain storm.

if the wind starts blowing the only and I mean only recs would be; add some zip ties to keep the line from tangling.  Being in the salt and walking the beach that seemed to be the greatest relief of line tangles.  Mike posted the "mangrove" a year or so back reiterated my point. I've personally used zip ties. The work well with the holes Grumpy spoke of. Just drill a few extra holes and attach zip ties and leave the long tails. Wallah! Anti tangle fingers in your homemade stripping basket.

Took it out for the first time today and all I can say is....where have you been my whole life!  :D

Walking the creek bank and catching a bunch of panfish with ants was fun but it was amazing what less of a headache not having line tangle in bushes, roots, feet and everything else. It was really intended for minimizing tangles on the bow of my bass boat but this thing may tag along other places as well.
