I've been wearing the Columbia Supercell Jacket. It's breathable, waterproof, has waterproof zippered pockets, the hood has elastic so it stays on your head.

Along with the Hydro Tech Packable Pant.

I've used Marmot, and Northface, and were good, but the Columbia fit feels much better for me being what some would say a larger framed person.

I have one of the high end Frogg Toggs suits and it works great for me keeping the rain off. Its light, packable and not really restrictive. The complaint I would give is on humid rainy days the suit isn't as breatheable as advertised. You won't get wet from rain but you will get wet from sweat under it.

It all depends on how much your gonna use it. Twice a year go with a Marmot or something cheaper. Three or four times a month, high end gear will pay off.

That is very true and why I wouldn't recommend it over a Simms suit.

I have only had the suit in a complete down pour a hand full of times. The jacket gets used 10/1 more so than the pants during winter as a light weight wind cutter over my warm clothes or to keep the dew off on cool nights.

I have two Marmot Summit/Guide series jackets---They are close to 400 bones, (didn't pay that much found them on clearance)  I can pack them in my waist purse on a sketchy day.  They are 4 years old and have not caused me any trouble.  I like simms, however, I am not on their deal and they are a bit pricey for a rain jacket.  I did however purchase their gortext pants on Sierra a year ago and they have not let me down yet.
