The rivers are low and clear. Really damn low and clear. Fishing is tough but the fish were in the expected locations. We moved alot of really nice fish but most were just those lazy follows that never turn to eats. Early this morning we found a couple of mid 40s near a feeding flat. One of them had a tail hanging out of its mouth and the other was harassing it trying to take the mauled fish. I placed a fly in the path of the harassing fish and it turned on it like a Shark. This was a hot fish and I fully expected it to take the fly well away from the boat but it did not. It aggressively trailed the fly mouthing the water, as if tasting for something to confirm it was indeed a prey item. When the fly was near the boat I began the Fig 8 and moved it behind the boat and around to the other side where I had better leverage. As soon I made the up swing and direction change the Fish lunged back around over itself mouth agape and completely missed the fly. At the same time he saw me and the boat and bolted outa sight. We fished to large fish all day and every now and then one would give us a curious glance but they seemed well aware that something was up. Low clear water is a real pain in the ass.
