Canyon fishing

This place is near and dear to me. It's hard to believe you're in Alabama when fishing there. For those of you that grew up in southeast Alabama (the Wiregrass) like me, any body of water that isn't flat and sandy is a big change from the usual.

This past weekend I took a buddy that doesn't really fly fish, and has also never been to the canyon. Not exactly the best place to learn as it's pretty technical fishing. Although the learning curve is steep, he still had a great time and caught some fish.

For those of you that have seen my last few reports, it's no secret that my intended quarry was the redeye bass. And they were hungry...

Enjoyed a snack on the way out....

There is a sweet river like that called the wild flower up north east of nashvegas.  The only difference is it has smalls that will break a 5wt, and fish that are willing to play.  You have to watch out for the locals, I believe they are growing something called "the purple haze" up there.  I have been run off twice, and both times it was worth it.

-Great report,

Thanks, Eric. BTW, in case you guys don't know, I've moved to Birmingham as of March 2015. So I doubt I'll be making any PJHW stuff in the future.

Matt, I'm pretty sure there is a PHWFF program starting up down that way. Good luck in B'ham
