I lit out for Reno, I was trailed by twenty hounds...
« on: July 30, 2015, 12:32:15 PM »
Didn't get to sleep that night til the morning came around, but I shook those damned dogs somewhere near Oklahoma City.

I drove out to a fish meeting in Nevada, and took a roundabout route. Three weeks, fifteen states, seven thousand miles, a few too many cheap motels, and seven nonresident fishing licenses. Some cool fish were caught. I'm not going to add too much verbiage here, I'm still beat from all the driving.

NM

AZ

Mohave desert, CA

Middle Sierras, CA

Northern Sierras, CA

across northern NV

UT

drove by more muskie water -- couple 50s have come out of here

further to the NE in UT

CO

Kansas City

and home. Whew.

Very cool! Really enjoyed those golden and grayling pics! Both are on my bucket list.

Recognized the title immediately. The rest of it was all foreign to me. Was this on Mars? Never been West, but plan to fix that next year. Thanks

Quite a roll.  May recognize some of the places.  For a fisheries -type person had to be a very cool trip.

Awesome report Dave. Miss fishing with you buddy.

Thanks. You know, there's a remedy for that ;)

I wasn't prepared for how utterly spectacular those goldens were. The photos don't do them justice. I must have caught fifty of them, and each one was more stunning than the last. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The strangest were the apache trout. I've never seen a trout in a small creek that wouldn't look up -- they only wanted small nymphs, and then only tight to cover. It was really, really weird...
