Took the kayaks out for a nine mile float the other day and found the stocker trout stacked in deep holes below the access points. Trout will begin to spread out as water warms. Also caught my first smallmouth of the year in a deep hole along the bluffs. Ended up paddling through heavy rain and hail to the take out.

9 miles is an ambitious float!  Glad you made it out OK...rain and hail sounds miserable.  Glad you caught some fish before the chaos.

Did you put in at the bridge?

Bridge at Cove Creek Road to Irving College.
Flow was at 942 cfs and we did not have to drag any.

I've waded that area below the bridge and done ok on the Trout. There are some holes there that sure do look Musky.

Water gets much deeper the farther down you float. There are some holes full of sunken trees that just scream musky.
