Streamers, and large "bugs" that you are usually stripping in rather than drifting don't usually have to be as close to natural as possible. Fish usually hit them spontaneously rather than midges, nymphs, emergers, etc that they take the time to look over and develop an appetite for!! just make sure that the stuff you do tie them with is stuff that won't fall apart as you use them....
bought some "cheap" feathers once at a Hobby Lobby, and most of them were not good to tie with.
(by the way, Grumpy has 3 big boxes full of hackle, dubbing, etc. that are marked at 40% off, and there is a lot of really good stuff in there that would be great for deceivers, and really any type of fly that you tie)
