The fish of 10,000 casts....
« on: October 13, 2009, 09:02:46 PM »
Eluded me and BD on Sun. We fished hard with gear and plastic but failed to get a Musky to eat. I had one that followed to the boat but it turned and fled when I tried to fig 8. Then right at dark I was picking up to cast again when a large one launched itself completely out of the water right at the boat. Had it connected with my lure he could have had it and the rod and reel. That fish scuured me. I did fly fish about 50% of the time but never got any action on the fly.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

Way to get out there fellars.  Those follows have to be heart stopping.  Atleast you'll know where they live when you revisit.

I've been blanked on my last two voyages...but I've been blessed by beautiful surroundings...in a matter of time, I'm sure I'll find a gnarly muskie in these waters.

This spot is about 1 mile downstream from my future house.....the flat water upstream is private property...but if I drag a canoe up the rapid...I'll be on a deep hole known to hold muskies.

The mountain pass into NC where the headwaters are stocked with skis.  The leaves will be in their prime by next week.  The maples were already starting to light up.

Hearing good things from locals and patients. Should be a good season to come.

Didn't mean to hijack...I'll post a new home celebration post once all the mortgage deadlines/inspection BS gets cleared and I stop pulling my hair out!

As for Mike...a muskie strike at the boat could damn near give a man a heart attack!

Those fish keep kicking my ass.  Over and over and over.

Every time I find myself making the two hour drive back to my house after being beaten down again on the muskie river, I feel like Charlie Brown after getting talked into trying to kick the football again.   :'(

When I finally get one in the boat I'm sure I will probably let it go, but I will at least think about keeping it purely for revenge.
