Water Temps
« on: August 16, 2007, 12:33:01 PM »
Yesterday I got out and did some hot fishing, no the fishing wasn't hot, couldn't even get bluegill to hit, would only inspect and sip at the fly. Was more of seeing how my hopper sat in the water for my upcoming Yellowsone trip.

11:15am at Old Dam Ford, temp 63.4

12:20am at Farris Creek Bridge temp 60.9

2:00pm about 100' upstream from the dam on the lake side temp 90.1

3:45pm after picking Precious up from school stopped at Stump Shoals 77.1

Next weeks projected "cooler" temps will hopefully help.

Heaven help any hybrids caught on the lake side.  Any hybrid pulled out of cool, deep water into a 90 degree surface temp is a dead fish.

I've never been down as far as Stump Shoals - what kind of river mileage from the dam is that?  I guess at 77 deg., you're out of trout and into smallmouth water there.

It's 33 miles below the dam, my house sits at 25.5 and we are way below the trout, one gets caught ever now and then but not trout water.

How are the smallmouth down there?  I might have to talk you into taking me on a float trip one of these days.
