Copperhead and Rainbows
« on: August 28, 2008, 08:04:37 PM »
Good coloration, haven't seen one in a while, probably the most persecuted creature on the planet.

moved him over to the side of the road, he's hid in the grass, I put him there and moved away came back and had a hard time finding him.

caught a truck load of these on Steeve's TransparANT (Red), Disc O'Beetle (Black)

I've never seen a copperhead around here. Many times I just knew one was around.

Everything serves a purpose. I know some who invent already invented flies ???

I've probably seen more of those than any other venomous snake in my life.  Unearthed a literal nest of 'em one time as a kid kicking rocks off the railroad trestle at the creek I fished in.  About scared me to death!  :o :o  :D   Saw two in a nearby creek one day a few weeks ago.  They seem to be pretty common in this part of the world in my opinion.

Since July 28 I've been back and forth to the vet literally almost every other day with one of our labs that was snake bit in our back yard.  At least that's what the vet thinks it was.  Fairly bizarre experience overall.  Gonna operate on the dogs leg next week to deal with scar/dead tissue in hopes of trading another 3-4 months of healing for 2-3 weeks.   Can't say for a fact that it was a copperhead but I know I've seen 'em around the area and never any other kind of venomous snake.

It's amazing how well the snake disappears in that grass.

I lived many years in West Tennessee, and have seen lots of them rascals. I guess that is why I love them so  ::)

David, had a bunch of um around my parents house growing up and I think they are very common for TN.

Good looking day out!  :)

Glad to see you let it live! Copperheads are awesome looking snakes and that one is no exception.

The Caney Fork is eat up with those and Rattle Snakes. They are really really bad at Happy Hollow, Betty's Island, and both sides of the Dam and down be the steps. I think I've even seen a Black Mamba down there a few times.

Don't forget that poisonous water snake Mike that bit those 2 fly fisherman earlier this summer down by Lancaster.  Does anyone know if they made it?

They filmed this one on Betty's Island.  People should really stay away.  ;)
