This may be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway.  Is there anyway of finding out where they stocked a particular stream?  I emailed the TWRA but didnt get a response back.  According to their schedule they stocked Salt Lick Creek in Macon County, which is like 10 to 15 minutes from my house.  I have already been to both the bridges that would give them good easy access to the creek but I haven't seen a sign of a fish or anything ???  When I was a kid the creeks around here were full of fish, but now it's pretty hard to find a creek with any fish in it at all and I'd love to get into some rainbows.

thanks in advance,
hNt
I never lie about a fish.  I might tell it 2 or 3 different ways, but I would never lie about it.

Try this link:
www.state.tn.us/twra/gis/troutpdf/Salt_Lick_Creek.pdf -
On other creeks they sometimes show specific stocking locations. This creek seems so small that they just indicate the estimated water the trout will occupy. Try fishing around any bridge or accessible road pull offs next to the creek.
Hope to hit the creeks up here in the next couple of days. Let us know how you fare.

I had spoke with TWRA on this once before. If you can pull a location up on the stockings map, the little black boxes or squares shown are the actual stocking points in that stream. If it is not on a map then I am not sure what to tell you other than they could be stocked on private property or from bridges.

Keep in mind that the date noted on the stocking schedule is not necessarily the "exact" date of stocking.  It just means the creek will be stocked some time that week.

I got out a little this weekend looking at stocker creeks , might say I am a little puzzled at what I was finding that was supposably a stocked stream. Maybe they are stocking minnows , cause the streams that I was finding thats all that could live in them. I was looking around the Warren co. area found a lot of nice streams ,  but they wasnt marked for stocking. Going thru this cause it seems the river is a little out of wack.  Maybe someone could give some insite on this. :-\

Jrod, without any specifics, it's hard for me to give much insight.  I can tell you that I've been to just about every one of the stocked creeks on the TWRA spring stocking list, and all of them are big enough to hold trout and not just "minnows."  Many of them are small creeks, but they've got plenty of decent pools and holes to hold trout.

Go to this link:

http://www.state.tn.us/twra/gis/troutindex.html

The numbers in red are the spring-stocked creeks.  Most of them have already gotten at least one stocking of trout by now, but you can double check the schedule here:

http://www.state.tn.us/twra/fish/StreamRiver/stockedtrout/sched10.pdf

On the map, you can click on the number for the stream you're interested in, and it will take you to a close-up map that shows access roads and even the specific locations where the fish are put in.

If you can't catch a trout out of these creeks with that information, I can't help ya.  :)

I was just looking at the maps and noticed that some creeks (Mill Creek, Hickman County) has the stocking cites removed. Does this mean it is NOT stocked?  The schedule page showes it being stocked.  I know for fact, in the past year, stocking was reduced oin this creek.  Any thoughts?   ???  :-\

Hey bd thanks for the info got to looking some more at the creeks, looks like I didnt go down the stream quit far enough. Kinda looks like maybe farther towards McMinnville the creeks are larger.Im not from around them parts , down there visiting the inlaws . JUst thought I might could get some quick action close by them , maybe this weekend get out a little farther and give a whirl.

As far as I know, Mill Creek is still stocked.  It's an awesome place to fish - one of the best spring creeks on the list in Middle Tennessee.  The biggest problem has been that a few of the landowners along the creek think the trout are being stocked for their own exclusive personal benefit and they're not always friendly to people who want to fish.

I agree with that bd, and there's the problem (with the ruts) of getting to the best spots... :o
